John W. Osborne, 85, of Lake Placid, Fla., and formerly of Chatham, Ill. died Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013, in the loving care of his family at Somers Hospice House in Sebring after a short illness.

Born in South Bend, Ind. to Millard Fillmore and Ella Osborne, Mr. Osborne served in the U.S. Army and for many years was employed at Hobbs in Springfield, Ill.

Mr. Osborne is survived by his wife, Jay; sons Bruce A. (Kathy) of Chatham, Ill. and Thomas M. (Cindy) of Springfield, Ill; daughter Deborah K. (Thomas E.) Dozier of Springfield, Ill.; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his previous wife of 34 years, Esther.

Donations in Mr. Osborneā€™s name may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice, 1110 Hammock Rd., Sebring, Fl 33870 or a charity of your choice.

Arrangements handled by National Cremation and Burial Society of Sarasota.
