Antje Lucia Ubeda

Antje Lucia Ubeda, 64, of Lake Placid, Fla., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, at her residence.

Born Aug. 16, 1949, in St. Ingbert-Hasel, Germany, to parents Johanna and Ernst Alfred Schrems, she received her master’s degree in Biology, baccalaureate degrees in education and physical education from the University of Berlin, Germany. She moved to Lake Placid seven years ago from Newport News, Va., where she was the owner of a financial service business which she continued in Highlands County. Mrs. Ubeda was of the Christian faith. She enjoyed bowling, cooking, gardening, boating, traveling and spending time on the beach.

Mrs. Ubeda is survived by her husband of 44 years, Frankie; daughters Karen Ubeda and Nicole Cutolo (Michael); grandchildren Alexis and Jayden; and a sister, Martina Korte (Werner) and their children, Martin and Lena. Mrs. Ubeda is also survived by numerous family members in Europe and across America.

A service for family and friends to celebrate Mrs. Ubeda’s life will be at 1 p.m. Friday at her residence, 141 Ida Ave., Lake Placid with Chad Townsend officiating.

The family suggests donations in Mrs. Ubeda’s memory to Good Shepherd Hospice, 1110 Hammock Road, Sebring, FL 33872 or the Wounded Warriors Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66676.

Cremation services were entrusted with Scott Funeral Home, Lake Placid.
