Joseph R. Arvay

Joseph R. Arvay, 76, of Lake Placid, Fla., died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013, at Lake Placid Health Care Center.

Born on Jan. 2, 1937, at Shamokin, Pa., to Anna and Benjamin Dudginski, he served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Arvay was a member of the Clover Hose Fire Company in Mt. Carmel, Pa. He was a retired chef and moved to Lake Placid in 2001 from Vero Beach. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion and the Loyal Order of The Moose. Mr. Arvay was of the Catholic Faith.

Preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia, in 2002, Mr. Arvay is survived by his daughters, Sandra, Diane and Donna; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Anna.

Services for the family will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements were entrusted with Scott Funeral Home, Lake Placid.
