Gordon H. Sibley

Gordon H. Sibley, 65, of Lake Placid, Fla., died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, at Florida Hospital Heartland Medical Center in Sebring.

Born March 5, 1948, in Opa Locka to Dorothy and Raymond Sibley, he joined the U.S. Navy after high school. After his military discharge, Mr. Sibley began a career as a mechanic, a trade he had enjoyed since boyhood. Through the years he became a master mechanic and a transmission specialist, specifically Chrysler transmissions. He worked for 30-plus years in the auto industry and was a member of NHRA.

Mr. Sibley is survived by his wife, Frances; children William Lowe, Mary Landis, Renee Swanwick, Melanie Sibley, Sandra Sibley, and Jamie Sibley; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by stepson Lawrence Lawton in November.

Arrangements are under the devotion of Michael A. Brochetti Funeral Home, Lake Placid.
