Carolyn Lea Shaner

Carolyn Lea Shaner, 71, of Lake Placid, Fla., died Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013, at her home in the companionship of her family.

Born in Indiana on Feb. 19, 1942, she was the daughter of Lois and Vernon Isaacs of Crawfordsville. She earned a degree in nursing after high school and for the past 20 years worked as a Registered Nurse at the Department of Corrections in Arcadia and for the Highlands County Sheriffs Department.

A Lake Placid resident for the past 24 years, she attended the Seventh Day Adventist Church and was associated with the Lake Placid VFW and American Legion in the Ladies Auxiliary.

Mrs. Shaner is survived by a daughter, Connie Caye Wallace; son, Charles Joseph Shaner; two siblings, and three grandchildren.

In celebration of her life, a memorial service was Monday, Dec. 23 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Lake Placid. Memorial arrangements were under the devotion of Michael A. Brochetti Funeral Home, Lake Placid.
