Rodney H. Allan, 95, of Sebring, Fla., died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014.
He was born in Maine as one of seven children of Marshall and Bessie Allan. He married his high school sweetheart, Phyllis, but the start of World War II saw Mr. Allan join the U.S. Army Air Corps and fly Martin B-26 Marauders on bombing missions over Europe.
After he returned from the war, Mr. Allan graduated from the University of Maine, raised a family and worked as a sales representative for New Holland farm equipment for 40 years. Upon retirement, he headed south to Florida. After his first wife’s death, Mr. Allan married Alma. They golfed and socialized at Spring Lake until Alma passed away in 2001. Mr. Allan spent the last five years in Fairway Pines. He loved to dance and flirt with the women.
Mr. Allan is survived by a sister, Betty Wright; daughters Crystal (Patrick) and Candace (John); grandchildren Lucie and Christopher and their children; his friend Charles Kenniston and by many friends; the staff of Fairway Pines; and health care provider Amanda Sager.
A celebration of Mr. Allan’s life will be held at a later date.
