Jeanne Dorothy Kurpik

Jeanne Dorothy Kurpik of Davie, Fla., and formerly of Lake Placid, Fla., died Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, in Ft. Lauderdale.

Born June 30, 1927 in Cleveland, Ohio, to John and Kathryn Tretiak, she was nicknamed “the blonde bombshell” in high school. On May 31, 1947, she married her sweetheart, Chester, after his discharge from the U.S. Army. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, clogging and painting. She participated in shows as an amateur painter.

Mrs. Kurpik and her husband were longtime Lake Placid residents and enjoyed friendships with fellow golfers at Placid Lakes Country Club, and what is now Lake June West Golf Club.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband and her parents, Mrs. Kurpik is survived by her daughter, Cathy Kurpik Dean (Robert) of Davie; grandchildren Robert Dean Jr. of Maryland, and Ryan Dean and Mary Rebecca Dean, both of Davie.

A private family gathering was held in Davie. Eden Funeral Home in Pompano Beach was in charge of arrangements.
