Norman Elliot Hatch

Norman Elliot Hatch, 71, of Lake Placid, Fla., passed away Saturday, April 12, 2014, at his home.

Born Dec. 26, 1942, in Haverhill, Mass., to Alice Mary and Frank Parker Hatch, he was a retired military veteran, serving 20 years in the Army as a medical specialist and earning many awards and medals, including the Gallantry Cross. After retiring from the military, he was employed as a nurse for 35 years. Mr. Hatch moved to Lake Placid in 1990 from Pennsylvania. He was a member of the American Legion Placid Post 25 Lake Placid and enjoyed boating, riding his motorcycle and spending time with friends and family.

Mr. Hatch is preceded in death by his father and a brother, Earle. He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Robin; his mother; brother, Roger Hatch (Barbara); daughters, Laura King (John), Robin Steger (John), Eva Reed, Andrea Hatch and Stephanie Noble (Larry); nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday) at Scott Funeral Home, 504 W. Interlake Blvd., Lake Placid, with military honors by the VFW Post 4300 Honor Guard. A celebration of Mr. Hatch’s life will immediately follow at the Hideaway Lounge in Lake Placid.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Cornerstone Hospice, 227 U.S. Highway 27 North Sebring, FL 33870.
