Mark Anthony Nairn, 92, of Lake Placid died Sunday, June 29, 2014 at Good Shepherd Hospice House in Sebring.
Born June 16, 1922 in Bartlesville, Okla. to Pansy and Henry Haywood Nair, he served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Mr. Nairn moved to Lake Placid from Hialeah in 1985 after retiring from a career as a mechanic for Eastern Airlines. He enjoyed square dancing, camping, swimming, sailing, shuffleboard, fixing things and spending time with family and friends. An inventor, he was awarded US Patent 3140134 A for a medicine cabinet with cold storage. He was a member of Placid Temple Church of God.
Mr. Nairn was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Edna; sisters, Louise Alarie and Joy Nedeau, and brothers Norman and George. He is survived by his daughter, Nancy Dunn; sons Kenneth L, Clyde A. and Harry L.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Grace Long and Fay Talbot.
A service to celebrate Mr. Nairn’s life will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements entrusted with Scott Funeral Home, Lake Placid.
