Residents of northern Highlands County can access sheriff’s office records at the Avon Park substation at 304 West Pleasant St., in the former Avon Park Police Department headquarters.

HCSO Records Specialists Ellie Ramos and Jill Byrnes are available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for public records requests. Copies of offense and traffic crash reports, background checks, worthless check packets, identity theft packets, trespass warnings, and concealed weapons permit packets may be picked up, as well as miscellaneous brochures and information.

“The availability of public records is easily accessible at the north district office and will alleviate a drive to Sebring,” said Records Administrator Rob Jordan.

According to Sheriff Susan Benton, the availability of records in Avon Park is a result of an agreement with the City of Avon Park designating HCSO as its primary law enforcement agency. “Using this facility was a win-win for residents in the city and the county,” Benton said. “It’s efficient, it’s accessible and it saves fuel.”

“Come by and visit your public safety office in Avon Park,” the sheriff added.
