No injuries were reported following a Wednesday, Sept. 4 collision between a Highlands County school bus and a GMC pick-up truck.
Bus driver Edward J. Buss, 69, was driving an empty school bus when the vehicle stopped on South Jefferson Avenue facing north. The pick-up truck driver, Charles Blanton, 61, began traveling north across S.R. 70 to enter Placid Lakes Boulevard.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, the bus driver failed to yield while crossing S.R. 70. Blanton collided with the front right side of the bus.
There were no students on board the bus at the time of the crash.
Buss was ticketed for failing to yield at a stop intersection.
