The Lake Placid Police Department, along with Heartland for Children, will be conducting Child Safety Seat inspections Friday, Oct. 13 from 7:30 to 10 a.m. at 201 E. Interlake Blvd., behind Walgreens.

This program, sponsored by State Farm Insurance, will allow parents and others who transport children a chance to learn how to properly install children’s safety seats.

Free child safety seats will be made available to those in need. To obtain a free car seat, contact must to be made with Heartland for Children representative Jennifer Sweet at 863-519-8900, ext. 294, prior to the event. “This way she has an idea of how many and what type of car seat she needs to bring,” said LPPD Chief James Fansler.

Any questions can be directed to the LPPD Officer Heather Mulligan or Sergeant Mark Schneider. “These two officers attended extensive training to be able to take part in this type of event,” Fansler said.
