Placid Lakes ladies play scramble series

Members of the Placid Lakes Women’s Golf Association turned out for a Scramble Tuesday, Oct. 22. Von Lacy teamed with Karen Wallin, Pat Haas and Handan Schneider to win the event with a score of 61.2. Taking second, at 63.1, was the foursome of Sue Mackey, Carol Olsen, Narola Rosenberg and Joan Sniffen. The third-place team consisted of Rose Hunter, Bobbie Miller and Jeanne Ransom. They came around the course with a combined card of 63.5.

Sue Mackey was closest-to-the-pin at hole number 11, her shot coming to rest just 2 feet, 6 inches from the cup.

Placid Lakes men play one, two best ball format

The Men’s Golf Association of Placid Lakes organized a “One Best Ball Odd Holes/Two Best Ball Even Holes” tournament for its membership Wednesday, Oct. 23. John Goble, Russ Isaacs and Bud Snyder comprised the winning team with a score of -19. Second place went to Frank Fisher, Bob Sheets and Howard Ticknor with their card of -18. Tom Lacy, Ed Bartusch and Gene Ransom shot -13 to take third.

Tom Lacy had the closest-to-the-pin honors at hole number 11 at 14 feet, 2 inches.

Placid Lakes to host two golf tournaments

Placid Lakes Country Club will host two tournaments this week. On Thursday, Oct. 31, there will be a Halloween Scramble which is open to the public.

Saturday, the club will be open for the Elks Club’s Southwest Central District 2-13 Annual Golf Tournament, a four-person scramble format with an entry fee of $60 per person.
