The 21st annual Turkey Trot 5K race has been set for Nov. 28, Thanksgiving Day, at Highlands Hammock State Park. The event benefits the Friends of Highlands Hammock who provide thousands of dollars of support to the park each year.

This year’s running of the Turkey Trot 5K will be limited to the first 500 paid entrants. Race Day registrations at $35 will be open from 6:30 to 7:40 a.m. only. Anyone registering after 7:40 may run but may not be timed. The race begins promptly at 8 a.m.

Those desiring entry forms may contact race director Chet Brojek at or by calling 863-385-4736. The entry fee is $20 through Nov. 21 and $25 through race day when the $35 fee will apply. The event also will include dri-fit T-shirts, custom trophies for overall, master and grand master champions, trophies for first through third places in 16 male and female age groups.

“Chip timing and plenty of post-race refreshments will get you off on the right foot for your holiday celebration,” race organizers say.
