Marlins win over Howard Fertilizer, 8-6
The Marlins stopped Howard Fertilizer, 8-6, Monday evening, Feb. 17, opening things up with a six-run rally in the top of the first. Eli Ming, Landon Goodwin, James Swaford, Holden Martin, Isaac Lopez and Cole Landers scored the runs. Colton Krueger had a hit as well but was stranded at third when the side was retired. Jeremiah Mulligan and Landers walked and scored on infield miscues with what proved to be the winning runs.
Howard Fertilizer struck for four runs in the bottom of the initial frame. Robby Hill, Keith Sigrist and Damian Brown had singles and scored while Tyler Baker walked later in the inning and came home on a hit by Chayce Rykaceski. Howard added two in the third. Elijah Daley homered with the bases empty. Baker walked and scored on a hit by Rykaceski.
Rays top Crushers, 8-4
The Triple G Rays topped the Davis Chiropractic Crushers, 8-4, Tuesday, Feb. 18. A single by Cade Grigsby augmented a series of walks by the Rays who rallied for five runs in the first inning. Jarrett Johnson, Chase and Cade Grigsby, Casen Simmons and Cody Wiggins scored. The Rays added three more in the second, walks and errors once again playing a major part in the scoring. Johnson, Joey Warner and Chase Grigsby crossed the plate.
The Crushers got two in the first as Walker Holmes tripled home Lincoln Holmes. A single by Tucker Cronin plated Walker Holmes. Two more came around for the chiropractors in the third. Walker Holmes doubled to drive in Johnny Phillips and scored himself on a two-bagger by Jacob Durbano.
GatorCo, Crushers tie 4-4
GatorCo Lawn and Landscaping tied with the Davis Chiropractic Crushers, 4-4, Wednesday, Feb. 19. GatorCo tallied once in the top of the first as Jacob Morgan walked and stole around the bases. The landscapers added two in the third as Ty Hannon and Adrian Amaro scored. Alen Torres got the final run for GatorCo in the fourth as he also walked and swiped the next three sacks.
The Crushers did all their scoring in the bottom of the first inning. Tucker Cronin and Hagen Tomlinson hit singles and four walks helped the Crushers in their rally. Holmes. Kal Reifsnyder, Cronin and Jacob Durbano scored.
Howard, GatorCo deadlock
In the second consecutive tie in Dixie Youth play Howard Fertilizer and GatorCo Lawn and Landscaping played to a 5-5 deadlock Thursday, Feb. 20. GatorCo put four on the scoreboard in the top of the first as Alen Torres and Adrian Amaro hit singles and Jacob Morgan provided a double. All three scored as well as Parker Griffin. The landscapers added another run in the third as Torres singled and scored.
Howard Fertilizer tallied twice in the second as Damian Brown homered with Zach Ward on base. The fertilizer men added a run in the fourth in the person of Chayce Rykaceski and got two more in the fifth as Keith Sigrist and Trinity Daley came around.
Rays over Marlins, 11-1
The Triple G Rays defeated the Marlins, 11-1, Friday, Feb. 21. A six-run rally which featured a lead-off single by Jarrett Johnson, a plethora of bases on balls and a hit batsman by the Rays in the top of the first put the game out of reach. Five more came home for the winners in the second. Jarrett Johnson, Chase Lane, Joey Warner, Chase and Cade Grigsby each scored two runs while Casen Simmons tallied once.
Holden Martin doubled and came home on a single by Isaac Lopez in the second inning for the Marlins.
Crushers win over GatorCo
The David Chiropractic Crushers won over GatorCo Lawn and Landscaping, 7-4, Saturday, Feb. 22. The Crushers opened the proceedings with four big ones in the top of the first as Lincoln Holmes and Tucker Cronin hit singles and Johnny Phillips and Walker Holmes slugged two-baggers. Lincoln Holmes and Makenzie Durbano scored for the winners in the second. Jacob Durbano singled in the third, took second and third on errors and raced home on a passed ball.
GatorCo did all its scoring in the bottom of the initial frame. Adrian Amaro singled and stole around the bases. Donovan Lusby and Jacob Morgan walked, and a single by Alen Torres brought in the two runners. Torres stole home with his team’s fourth run.
Marlins over Howard
The Marlins helped themselves to a 10-4 win over Howard Fertilizer Saturday, Feb. 22. The fish got things started with a three-run rally in the first as Eli Ming, Landon Goodwin and James Swaford scored. Luke Goodwin and Noah Browning came around for the winners in the second. Landon Goodwin scored his second run of the game in the third as he, Swaford and Holden Martin hit consecutive singles. Four runs came in for the Marlins in the fourth inning in the persons of Cole Landers, Tristan Martinez, Luke Goodwin and Noah Browning.
Howard Fertilizer pushed three across the plate in the initial inning. Chayce Rykaceski doubled home Keith Sigrist and Damian Brown. A bases-loaded walk brought in Rykaceski. A final run came around for Howard in the fourth as Rykaceski singled and raced in on a hit by Tyler Baker.
