Green Dragons host track meet

The Lake Placid Green Dragon track teams hosted a meet here Thursday, Feb. 27, and, despite some inclement weather, the Lady Dragons pulled off a surprising second-place finish, garnering 55 points to Sebring’s first-place total of 57. Hardee of Wauchula, Moore Haven and DeSoto of Arcadia also sent teams.

Lady Dragons Katie LeBlanc tied for second in the pole vault event at 7 feet. Devany Moore was third in the long jump at 12 feet, 11 inches. Regan Phypers and Sonia Becerra finished behind her at 11 feet and 10 feet, 5 inches respectively.

Quiahja Williams won the high jump for Lake Placid with a leap of 4 feet, 8 inches. She also won the 100-meter dash with a time of 12:90 and finished third in the 100-meter hurdles. Rosa Ramirez teamed with Gabriella Perez, Elizabeth Gloria and Jacqueline Barajas to take third in the 4 x 1800 meter relay.

In the boys’ competition Ricardo Dejesus, Johnathan Psaras, Caleb Haake and Gabriel Yungbluth took third place in the 4 x 100 meter relay.
