The Lake Placid Green Dragon baseball team traveled to McKeel Academy in Lakeland and absorbed a 7-2 loss at the hands of the Wildcats. The Dragons did all their scoring in the initial inning as Alex Miller walked, Diego Mireles singled to right field and Tyler Carr smashed a double to deep left center. Miller and Mireles both scored on Carr’s two-bagger.
After that, the Wildcats scored three in the bottom of the first, two in the fourth, and one each in the fifth and sixth innings.
“This was a disappointment,” said Coach D.W. Daum. “We got off to such a strong start at the beginning of the game and then just failed to hit the ball for the next six innings. There have been days when we hit consistently, this wasn’t one of them, and you can’t win without scoring runs,” the coach added.
The Green Dragons played the Clewiston Tigers there Tuesday, April 15, and Senior Night will be Thursday, April 17, when the Dragons play Lakeland Christian here at Roger Scarborough Memorial Field.
