Benefiting Samaritan’s Touch Care Center once more, the Dr. Tom McDonald Caladium Festival 5K Race will take place Saturday, July 26, in Lake Placid.
The race will begin in front of Lake Placid’s First Presbyterian Church located at 118 N. Oak Avenue at 7:30 a.m. with registration taking place early that morning until 7 a.m. The entry fee is $20 through Friday, July 18, and will rise to $30 thereafter. For more information and pre-registration, contact 863-465-2742, or email email@example.com. There will be dri-fit tee shirts available to the first 150 paid entries.
The event honors the memory of Dr. Tom McDonald, a beloved dentist who practiced for many years in Lake Placid. Dr. McDonald was an avid runner and athlete who conceived the idea of a 5K race to coincide with Lake Placid’s now famous Caladium Festival.
Sponsors of the 5K race, in addition to First Presbyterian Church, include Smoak Groves, First Baptist Church, Heartland National Bank, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, Leisure Lakes Baptist Church, Reynolds Farms, St. James Catholic Church, SunRidge Harvesting Company and “The McDonald Girls.”
