The Lake Wales High School string students present their free spring concert at 7 p.m. Monday in the Lake Wales High School auditorium under the direction of Meg Smith, instructor.

“We will be playing pop music for entertainment,” Smith said. “Selections include music from ‘Frozen,’ ‘Beauty and the Beast,’ ‘Sound of Music,’ and ‘Titanic.’”

Violins, violas, cellos and string base provide the music for the variety presentation. Smith’s class began two years ago with nine students and now is more than 100 students strong.

“I love teaching and feel like a Pied Piper,” Smith said. “My seniors who are graduating have been in the program for eight years.”

The public is invited to attend the free concert.
