MUSEUMS

Frostproof Historical Museum, 210 S. Scenic Hwy., Frostproof. Closed for remodeling, reopening Oct. 4. View artifacts from Frostproof’s ancient Indians, Seminole War Fort Clinch, early pioneers, citrus industry, schools, Civil War, World Wars and more. Lake Wales Depot Museum, 325 S. Scenic Hwy., Lake Wales. Open 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday, 10 a.m-4 p.m., Saturdays. Closed on national holidays. Call 863-676-5160 for information. The Depot at 325 S. Scenic Highway was built as a passenger station by the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad in 1928 at an approximate cost of $51,000. Replacing service at the original depot, the new location was chosen to relieve traffic congestion in the downtown area. A freight room and loading platform were added in 1938.

DRAWING, PAINTING AND CRAFTS

Polk County School Board meets 1:30 p.m., second Tuesday of the month, and 5 p.m., fourth Tuesday of each month, at the School Board auditorium at the District Main Office at 1915 S. Floral Ave., Bartow. Board meetings are videotaped and aired on cable television.
