The Wine, Walk and Shop event scheduled 4-8 p.m. on Sept. 28 by the Women’s Business Connection of Greater Lake Wales is in the final stages of preparation as discussed at the women’s networking group meeting Thursday in the Care Center Cafe.
The event will be featured during the September Lake Wales car Cruise-In evening. For $10 per person in advance, $15 at the door, visitors will receive an arm band, map and card for signatures to visit each participating business around the downtown Historic District and additional booths placed in the Arcade building. Ticket purchase is available online at www.lakewales networking4women.com.
A large prize assembled from items donated by participating businesses will be presented in a drawing at the end of the evening. Participants in the walk will receive card signatures at each site visited. The cards will be placed for a drawing at the end of the evening.
In other business, Janet Farmer, president, welcomed members and guests. Those attending identified themselves and their businesses.
Discussion surrounded the question if businesses of all types and similarities should be admitted, or if each business of a type should be limited to one per membership. Members held a lengthy discussion over how that should be handled for the organization.
The networking organization promotes one another and shares business promotion ideas and suggestions that each business owner has found, through trial and error, to work in their businesses. The group also recommends fellow businesswomen.
Members divided into three groups to discuss goals and a mission of the organization as the group continues to organize. Farmer volunteered to take the group answers to the questions, consolidate and email members with results.
The group meets 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. the second Thursday of each month at the Care Center Cafe on Park Avenue. For more information on the organization, check the website at www.lakewales networking4women.com.
