Grinches stole widow’s Christmas

Dear Editor:

I sympathize with the family who lost their Christmas tree to thieves. Believe me, I know exactly how they feel — and more.

Four months ago I lost my husband, Lenny. Since Christmas was so close to the date of his death, I decided to just put up a few decorations. But, when I went into our shed they were all gone. Every single piece of my collection of Christmas decorations and a small tree were stolen.

Most of the decorations have no monetary value at all; most of them were made by my late mother some 30 to 40 years ago and others by family and friends, each piece having a special memory.

The value of these treasures to me is priceless but to a stranger they are just ‘things.’ I don’t understand why anyone would want them.

So, to the Grinches who stole my Christmas forever, I hope they realize they have brought even more sorrow to me and my family. Nothing can replace them. How could you?
