Marlene Ward passed away in her sleep on Oct. 9, 2013.
She was born on May 13, 1934, to Franklin and Minnie (Schultz) Ward, and graduated from Mapleton High School, Minnesota in 1952.
She married Elwood Ward on June 8, 1952 at St. John Lutheran Church of Mapleton. They farmed south of Pemberton, Minnesota, were active in their community and Medo Lutheran Church near Pemberton. She worked as a bookkeeper for 16 years, as well as working on their farm and at home. She loved a good 4-H softball game, refinishing furniture, crafts and sewing. They enjoyed traveling with their camper during their working years, and even more in their retirement.
They moved to Lake Wales, Fla., in 1978, became active in the new community and she became a multi-term treasurer for her church circle. Even as her health slowly declined, she still loved to visit people and go places.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Elwood, son Michael (Annette) of Mapleton, Minnesota, daughters LuAnn (Rick) Lisell of Plano, Texas, and Tami (Steve) Wiebold of Lake Wales, Fla. She had five grandchildren, Brian (Kira) Ward of Las Vegas, Nev., Chris (Brittany) Ward of Mankato, Minn., Melissa Lisell of Plano, Texas, Shannon (Alex) Stassen of Princeton, Texas, Hunter Wiebold of Lake Wales, Fla., and one great-grandchild, Connor Ward of Mankato, Minn.
