David Crosby of Frostproof, Fla., passed away Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013, at his residence.
He was born Aug. 26, 1933, in Canal Point, Fla., to David W. Crosby and Agnes P. Benton Prine; and he came here from Indian River County in 1940.
He was a self-employed mechanic, a member of the First Baptist Church of Frostproof and a veteran of Korea, serving in the U.S. Navy.
David was preceded in death by his father, David W. Crosby; mother, Agnes Prine; stepfather, Dexter Prine; sisters, Myrtle Crosby Arnold; Elizabeth Prine Albritton; and granddaughter, Della A. Williams.
Survivors include his wife, Joelyn Crosby; five daughters, Rita Ann Crosby, Leta Jan Clements , Nita Lynn Deal, Ginger Lea Spence and Tina Lorraine Scali, all of Frostproof; sisters, Marie Brinson of Fort Meade, Mary Louise Register of Virginia and Shirley Jackson of Frostproof; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; “Poppy” to many.
Visitation is 6-8 pm Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Frostproof.
Funeral service was at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at the First Baptist Church in Frostproof with the Rev. Heath Woolman and the Rev. Darrol Hood officiating.
Interment followed at the Mt. Zion Cemetery.
