Judy M. Stokes, 68, of Lake Wales, Fla., passed away on Monday, Nov. 11, 2013, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on Jan. 3,1945, in Sebring to Gladys and Sol McClelland. Her family was one of the original Highlands County pioneer families and made their home in Cornwell.

Judy married Robert J. “Joe” Stokes and moved to Lake Wales in 1972. She was a homemaker and a member of Lorida Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Joe Stokes; daughter, Murrie S. Burnett of Zolfo Springs; sister, Ruth McClelland Johnston of Sebring and two grandchildren, Madison and Cameron.

Graveside service is Friday, Nov. 15, 2013, at Fort Kissimmee Cemetery located at the Avon Park Bombing Range with the Rev. Marcus Marshall officiating.

Family and friends will meet at 9 a.m. in the parking lot at the Operation Center where the flagpole and F16 are located, and will be escorted to the cemetery. Everyone must travel in a group with the escort.

Arrangements are by Dowden Funeral Home.
