Orvail M. Barnett

Orvail M. Barnett, 71, of Babson Park, Fla., passed away Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, at his residence.

He was born May 30, 1942, in Alabama to John Webb and Verdia Barnett and came to the area from Missouri 55 years ago.

Orvail retired from Publix and the Polk County School Board and was a member of the New Beginnings Worship Center. He enjoyed keeping up with his yard, making it look nice and watching sports, especially basketball.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Charlotte Barnett; daughters, Donna Meadows of Springville, Ind., Vickie Smith of Babson Park and Sharon (Roy Gene) Locke of Mt. Airy, N.C.; sons, Gary (Robin) Barnett of Fort Meade, Fla., Timothy Barnett and Jason Barnett both of Babson Park; sister, Bea Green of Prattville, Ala.; brother, Bruce Barnett of Lake Wales, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, at New Beginnings Worship Center.

Interment will follow at Lake Wales Cemetery.

Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014, at the funeral home.
