Joan Pleines of Fedhaven, Fla., passed away Monday, March 3, 2014, at the Somers Hospice House in Sebring after a battle with lung cancer.
She was 73.
She was born April 21, 1940, in Relay, Md., to Charles Alexander Banks Sr. and Theora Banks. She moved to Florida in 1989, originally residing in Winter Haven and moved to Fedhaven 12 years ago. She was a freelance photographer and writer who once owned an art gallery in Baltimore, Md. She was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include her daughter, Lisa Cochran of Frederick, Md.; stepdaughter, Eileen Lee of Severna Park, Md.; former son-in-law, Robert Cochran Jr. of New Market, Md.; stepsons, Richard Pleines of Conowingo, Md. and Gene Pleines of Fawn Grove, Penn.; sister, Kathy Fisher of Ellicott City, Md.; and a brother, Charles “Chuck” Banks of Frostproof. She also leaves behind many dear friends in Florida as well as Maryland.
