Hugh Reginald Batchelor

Hugh R. “Rex” Batchelor, 87, of Waverly, Fla. passed away Thursday, April 17, 2014, at his daughter’s residence.

He was born Nov. 11, 1926, in Covington, Ga., to the late Louis R. and Estelle (Merritt) Batchelor and has been a resident of the area since 1960 moving here from Lake Wales. He was a retired Automotive Machinist for Mulberry Motor Parts. Hugh was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Waverly Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Kitty Faye Batchelor; daughter, Beverly Ann (Jim) Slaughter of Bartow; son, Louis R.(Sandra) Batchelor of Winter Haven; “Buck” Batchelor of Lakeland, Kenny Batchelor of Jackson, Ga.; sister, Brenda Harper of Jackson, Ga.; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Funeral service is 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home with the Rev. David Durham officiating.

Family will receive friends on 6-8 p.m. Monday, April 21, 2014, at the funeral home.
