Jeanne A. Jahna of Lake Wales passed away Thursday, June 19, 2014, at the Winter Haven Hospital.

She was 86.

She was born in Wilmington, N.C., on March 13, 1928, to James (Big Jim) Ellison Allen and Gracie Culpepper Allen.

She married Emil R. Jahna Jr. in 1950, first living in the Hesperides area, then moving to Lake of the Hills, where she spent most of her adult life, raising her family.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Robert D. Jahna in 1965 and Jesse Redwin Barden in 2011 and a brother, Jimmy Allen in 1950.

She is survived by her children, Emil Richard Jahna III (Marilyn), Becky Jahna Johnson, Jimbo Jahna (Susan) and Gretchen Jahna; two sisters, Marianne Haynes of Columbia, S.C., and Bobbie Heller of Sumter, S.C.; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She enjoyed traveling, gardening and the seaside. She loved her gardening, taking great pride in her rose garden. She was often called Granny Greenthumbs by her young grandchildren. She enjoyed travel, especially to those places near or on the water.

The family received friends from 10 a.m. until the memorial service at 11 a.m., Monday, June 23, 2014, at the First Presbyterian Church in Lake Wales with the Rev. Chad Reynolds officiating.
