Matthew P. “Matt” Motis

Matthew P. “Matt” Motis of Lake Wales passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at the Lakeland Regional Medical Center. He was 55.

He was born July 23, 1958 in Friend, Neb., and came to the area from Nebraska 25 years ago. He was a plant manager for Chemical Containers and a member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Lake Wales. He was an avid saltwater fisherman and was a member of the Ducks Unlimited Lake Wales Chapter and the Sons of American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Rhonda K. Motis; four daughters: Christa Motis VanEkelenburg of Auburndale, Jamie Harvey of Mankato, Kan., Kayla Motis of Winter Haven and Samantha Motis of Lake Wales; a son, Chris Harvey of Lake Wales; parents, Edmund “Eddie” and Ruth Motis of Lake Wales; three brothers: Michael Motis and wife, Regina, John Motis and wife, Laura and David Motis and wife, Jeanette, all of Babson Park; and two grandchildren: Tristan and Dax.

Memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Thursday, July 31, 2014, at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd with Father Thomas C. Seitz, Jr. officiating.
