Avon Park powers past Bulldogs

Frostproof third baseman Curt barnes puts the tag on this runner from Avon Park during a Class 4A, District 9 showdown at Gary Garrett Field last week. The visiting Red Devils put up five runs in the first and five in the second en route to an 18-10 win.

Marcus Bobb tangles with this Avon Park runner at third base during action last week at home against the Red Devils. Although they lost to Avon Park, later in the week they scored a 4-2 win over Lake Placid, the Bulldogs second district win of the spring.

Frostproof's Curt Barnes waits for the ball at third place as he tries to get this Avon Park runner out. Frostproof, with the loss, fell to 3-11 overall this spring, and 1-5 in Class 4A, District 9 play.

Whoa! This Avon park base runner comes face to face with Frostproof catcher Cory Franks, who already has the baseball, during varsity action last week. The Bulldogs fell, 18-10, allowing 18 hits in the game, while collecting 12 themselves.

Frostproof second baseman Juan Flores tries to make this spectacular over the shoulder catch in action against Avon Park last week. Backing up is Ja'Darius Hawthorne, who did have a spectacular catch of his own, going over the wall in the early innings to take away a grand slam from the Red Devils Mykel Gordon.

Clint Barnes slides safely into home as one of 10 Frostproof runners to score in action last week against Avon Park. THe Bulldogs, who at one time trailed 10-0, scored seven times in the second inning to trim that deficit to just three runs, but eventually lost 18-10.
