“Tonight is the night when all my knights … unite,” declares King Arthur in the Charlotte Players version of the hysterical “Spamalot,” the Tony Award-winning musical comedy opening at the Cultural Center of Charlotte County on Friday, Feb. 9.

Conceived by the popular British comedy troupe Monty Python and based on their hit film “Monty Python and the Holy Grail,” “Spamalot” centers around King Arthur as he leads his Knights of the Round Table on a quest for the Holy Grail. Along the way, they encounter strange places and characters, challenging them to keep their heads on straight or die terribly weird deaths.
