Spa-Dee-Dah — launching new lives in ‘Hallelujah Girls’

What happens when a group of mature Southern Belles decide to turn an abandoned church into a day spa in Eden Falls, Georgia?

Sugar Lee Thompkins, the group's leader, tries to keep her girlfriends focused, and the results are hysterical. Veteran actor and director, Ron Bupp, has assembled a "true ensemble cast" for "Hallelujah Girls," the Charlotte Players Main Stage production scheduled for Nov. 21-24 at the Charlotte County Cultural Center Theater in Port Charlotte. "In 'Hallelujah Girls' there's no leading actor," said Bupp. "Selecting an ensemble cast of six women and two men is like planning a fine dinner, as characters must mesh and complement each other."
