A white and black diamond adorned with a large sea grape rose in green and red caught the eye of everyone at last year’s Punta Gorda Garden Club Holly Days Home Tour. This year’s tour is Dec. 6-7.

If it’s the first weekend of December, the traditional kickoff for the holidays around here, you can count on the ladies of the Punta Gorda Garden Club to stage an event that draws people from all over Southwest Florida. Their popular Holly Days Home Tour has been a signature event on a crowded holiday calendar for 20 years and provides the club with money it puts to very good use in the community.

This year’s 20th tour, titled A Tropical Holiday to Remember, is Dec. 6 and 7, and members are hoping to match or exceed last year’s record numbers. The reason for the popularity is simple. Tourgoers get a rare opportunity to see the inside of a Historic District home and a look at how local plant materials, such as palm tree parts can be used to decorate for the holidays.
