“Hang Me, Oh Hang Me,” a traditional folk song, is performed by Llewyn Davis in the opening scene of “Inside Llewyn Davis.”

This is a film about a ’60s folksinger who may not desire that particular death wish but, rather, wants the world to empathize with his struggling artist persona.
