One of the best shows I have seen within the past 10 months is the Manatee Players’ production of “Les Miserables.” Friday, the Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre in Fort Myers will open its version of this terrific show. Manatee is a community theater but it produced a professional quality show. I am looking forward to seeing what the professional dinner theater does with this terrific show. If carnivals are more your thing, do not miss the biggest one in Venice this year — the 26th annual Venice Italian Feast & Carnival on the airport festival grounds in Venice. It begins at 4 pm. Thursday and continues until closing on Sunday evening. Closing could mean 9 p.m. or even a bit later judging by the lack of a time in the press release and my experience with prior festivals. The well-lit midway and rides often shine late into the evening. I think it has something to do with diehard festival goers who want to get in as many rides as possible and also consume as much of the festival food as possible.
