Some might say that St. Patrick's Day is an excuse to drink green beer once a year, but many others assert that the day is meant to celebrate the heritage of the Irish.

The very first St. Patrick's Day parade took place in New York City in 1762. Afterwards, the Irish population in the United States grew, and with it, their traditions ranging from Catholicism to pubs.
