The Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex has extended its hours for the summer months. From now through Sept. 1, hours are from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Since the arrival of the Space Shuttle Atlantis at the center, there is so much more to see and learn that the extra hours are a huge help.

It also means extra time to ride the Shuttle Launch Experience. Head there first thing and, depending on the crowds, it might be possible to have an extra ride or two into outer space. Created by some of the same folks who created Mission Space at Epcot at Walt Disney World, the Space Center ride is much tamer — in this coaster fan’s opinion. Riders on the Disney ride experience far more G-forces, which is not to everyone’s taste.
