This month is turning out to be the ideal training ground for festivals in Venice.
We began with the Book and Writer’s Festival on April 5 and went right into the Shark Tooth Festival the following weekend. Coming up this weekend is the city’s fastest growing festival of all — the BBQ and Bluegrass Festival. Saturday is the big day with the Cornhole Tournament, chili and dessert contests, nearly nonstrop Bluegrass and the state’s biggest BBQ contest with a $15,000 purse. It will be at the Venice Municipal Airport all day Saturday until about 5 p.m. Bring your appetite and your wallet.
