The first song that Mike Parshall ever played on a saxophone is probably not on his current playlist.
As a 9-year-old boy in Tampa, he initially picked up an alto saxophone in an elementary school class, and the first song he learned to play was considered to be one of the simplest to learn — “Camptown Races." Even while playing that 19th century minstrel song, Parshall became immediately smitten with the saxophone.
