Nav-A-Gator's whimsy stays. But expect big menu changes that reflect new ownership.

Shauna Shows has an extensive history in food service, which translates well to ownership of the Nav-A-Gator Grill.

Port Charlotte’s Jesse and Shauna Shows on Monday took ownership of the Nav-A-Gator Grill in Lake Suzy in northwestern DeSoto County.

The young couple and a childhood friend are focused on rebranding and energizing the Nav-A-Gator’s menu, emphasizing freshly made dressings and slaws, barbecue sauces and fresh-catch seafood and other personalized changes they’ve acquired while paying dues in the food trade — Jesse, 35, and Shauna, 30, are career food-service workers. They’ll introduce daily lunch and dinner specials too, said Jesse Shows, or “our kind of culinary magic.” The seven-day diner closes at 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays; 8 p.m. otherwise.
