EAST OF PUNTA GORDA — After charging at a Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office deputy Thursday morning, two 100-pound pit bulls were shot with a firearm. Both dogs are expected to recover after being treated by a veterinarian.
The deputy responded to a call at 7:16 a.m. on the 9200 block of Austrian Boulevard, where a caller reported he was being held captive in his truck by three loose, aggressive pit bulls. He was unable to get out of his truck to open the gate and drive away or get out to go back inside his residence. Animal Control was also notified to respond.
