City seeks $7 million for plant

With more than a dozen letters supporting a groundwater reverse osmosis treatment plant in Punta Gorda, Mayor Bill Albers appeared before state delegates last week to formally request $7 million in funding for the project.

On Thursday, state Rep. Ken Roberson and state Sens. Nancy Detert and Lizbeth Benacquisto heard from residents and local government officials during a four-hour meeting at the Punta Gorda Isles Civic Association on the issues they want delegates to address in Tallahassee during next year’s legislative session.
