NORTH PORT — When Friends of the Little Salt Spring president Lawry Reid was in Scotland last month, he and his wife visited the Glasgow Museum.
“They had a little history display that said Scotland was first settled in 10,000 B.C., and I was saying, ‘Is that all?’ Down here in Sarasota County, people were here at least 12,000 years ago. People were here (at Little Salt Spring) before there were people in Scotland,” he said, pointing out the exceptionality of the archaeological site.
