The Cabbage Key Inn is a great place to escape for an afternoon lunch or dinner. Carve out a whole day, as it's accessible only by boat.

Live like a tourist
Like many of you, after moving down here, I heard about this magical island where Jimmy Buffett wrote his famous “Cheeseburger in Paradise.” The island, Cabbage Key, was nearby and served cheeseburgers worthy of a song.
The only problem: Cabbage Key is accessible only by boat. I don’t have a boat. I guess one could probably reach the island by helicopter or seaplane, but my aircraft have been in the shop (as in someone else’s shop … and yes, someone else’s aircraft). Thus, no “Cheeseburger in Paradise” for me.
