NORTH PORT — Commissioner Jim Blucher was elected unanimously by his fellow board members as the city of North Port’s newest mayor on Tuesday, a position that allows him to chair and lead commission meetings, but does not bring with it any added power.
Commissioner Rhonda DiFranco also was elected as the vice mayor Tuesday, and both commissioners will serve in their new positions for a year. Blucher’s second and final term as a city commissioner is scheduled to end next year, while DiFranco is currently in her second year of service.
