NORTH PORT — Ready for a change, three North Port city commissioners want to explore hiring an in-house attorney instead of using an outside firm for legal services like the city does now.
At a Monday workshop, Commissioners Cheryl Cook, Linda Yates and Rhonda DiFranco directed City Manager Jonathan Lewis to move forward with creating a job description, a salary range and a potential scope of services for an in-house attorney. Because it was a workshop, commissioners couldn’t take an official vote. Lewis said he will work with city Human Resources staff to bring the item back to the commission for a vote.
