VENICE — Its website describes Ramblers Rest as a place that celebrates “everything the Sunshine State has to offer,” and the 40-year-old RV resort at 1300 N. River Road — covering 117 acres with 647 camping sites along the Myakka River — has recently backed up that claim by upgrading many of its amenities.

Lance Beatch, senior vice president of asset management for the resort’s Chicago-based parent company Equity Lifestyle Properties, declined to reveal how much was spent on the four-month makeover, but said it was well worth the effort.
