SARASOTA COUNTY — A group of more than 100 professional planners, builders, developers, government representatives and small business owners from around the region were urged to focus on green business practices and building resilience in local food supplies at the county’s eighth annual Sustainable Communities Workshop Wednesday in Sarasota.
The all-day event drew leaders from industry, government and collegiate programs, local “clean-tech” business representatives, nonprofit groups and residential advocates to share their expertise in building strategies for achieving a more sustainable future through job creation, community building and innovations. The workshop also featured presentations on environmentally friendly subjects such as alternative transportation, ecotourism and the future of the built environment.
