Judge: Powder suspect can act as own attorney

The man accused of sending an envelope containing a suspicious powdery material to a judge in 2011 will get his day in court β€” along with the chance to act as his own attorney.

Robert Theodore Chapman, 63, of Punta Gorda, is charged with delivery of a hoax weapon β€” a second-degree felony β€” after being arrested in April 2011. He’s been trying to convince the court to allow him to fight his own case.
